Suggestibilty is defined as the way a person receives and interprets information.

There are actually two ways in which you take in and process information ie direct or indirect. Another way of putting this is to say that you take in suggestions either literally or inferentially.

What does that mean? Simply put, it means that you either

  • Accept what you hear at face value or
  • Question it and look for the inner meaning, like reading between the lines.

As an example, when someone says to you that you look good today, you may accept the compliment and say thank you, or you may question the motive of the speaker and wonder what he really meant (Did I look bad yesterday? Does he want something from me? What is he thinking that he’s not telling me? Does this mean that he’s interested in me?)

How you take in information, either literally or inferentially, is called your suggestibility.

The person who takes in information

  • literaly is called Physical Suggestible
  • Inferentially is called Emotional Suggestible

These differences in the way individuals receive and interpret informations results in communication gaps leading to many conflicts. And most of problems in world today are the result of this communication gap.

Knowlege of suggestibility helps in improving communication skills and results in clear communication.

This concept is explained very well in Basic Course in Integrated Clinical Hypnosis Level-1 certified by California Hypnosis Institute of India (India's first and only ISO Certified Hypnotherapy Institute) with practical applications in your day to day life.

It covers... how the suggestibility is formed in each one of us, and how it influences the way we communicate in our lives.

How as a child each one of us were communicated to, that creates a whole lot of perceptive and analytical basis of communication in each one of us.

The basic suggestibility once formed cannot be reversed.
